Description

AMD Ryzen 5 5500 is a Zen 3 desktop processor for socket AM4. It has 6 cores and 12 threads, a 3.6 GHz base clock, Precision Boost up to 4.2 GHz, 16 MB of L3 cache and a 65 W TDP. Its dual-channel controller supports up to 128 GB of DDR4: up to 3200 MT/s with two modules, while the official limit drops to 2933 or 2667 MT/s with four populated slots depending on memory rank. The processor provides 20 usable PCIe 3.0 lanes and does not support PCIe 4.0. There is no integrated graphics, so a discrete graphics card is required. The boxed version includes an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler. Supported chipsets include X570/X470/X370, B550/B450/B350 and A520; older boards may require a BIOS update.
