How to choose a laptop: screen, memory and exact configuration
Choose a laptop around your applications, display and working conditions, then verify its exact part number. One product series may include different CPUs, screens, memory and ports; the series name does not identify the configuration.

Start with applications and where you work
List your applications and check their recommended requirements for your workload. Documents, video editing and 3D need different resources. An operating system’s minimum requirements describe installation eligibility, not comfortable performance in all your applications.
Decide whether you will carry the laptop daily or mainly use it at a desk. Compare weight including the adapter, dimensions and connections. Advertised battery life is not a promise at every brightness and workload.
RAM and SSD are different specifications
RAM supports running applications; storage holds your files. A 512 GB SSD is not 512 GB of RAM. Consider concurrent applications and your local file archive separately.
Check the exact configuration’s documentation for soldered memory, free slots and supported modules. Do not assume upgrade options from another model apply. SSD upgrades also require the correct slot, interface and physical size.
Display and ports
Check size, resolution, panel type, brightness and finish. Colour-sensitive work requires confirmed specifications for the actual screen; IPS or OLED alone does not describe all its properties.
Verify connections for an external display, peripherals and power. A USB-C socket alone does not guarantee display output or charging: the supported functions and cable matter.
Identify the configuration
Compare the full manufacturer part number, processor, RAM, SSD, display, keyboard layout and included accessories. An identical chassis photo does not prove identical internals. For a MacBook, check the chip and exact memory and storage configuration too.
Select an actual listed variant on SmartWave. Before adding it to your cart, confirm that its price, stock and specifications match your selection. Ask for missing details using the part number.
Before confirming a purchase
Check the operating system and licence, included items, warranty period and collection or delivery terms for this particular item. Save exact configurations for comparison, not just series names.
Filters narrow the catalog; they do not replace manufacturer documentation or application requirements. No single laptop is the right choice for every workload and budget.
